Project Summary
This year, I chose to do my project on the cultural impacts of science fiction throughout history.

Throughout the past couple hundred years, there has been so much technological change and advancement. From the industrial revolution and the taming of electricity to the technological revolution. The fear surrounding all these changes is constantly on people’s minds. What monstrosities could they hold? Fear of the future and the unknown are always present in sci-fi. It has always been present in humanity and stories have always been a way to process and warn others of their fears. Humans are always exploring and creating new things. The want to advance into the future will never be possible if we do not heed the warnings of the past. As long as we all struggle to grapple with the new advancements in technology or the changes in the political or economic statuses of our communities, we will have science fiction.

This year, I hoped to dive into this topic and find and break down some of our revolutionary science fiction media. What did it mean to the creators of this art and to the people at the time? What does it mean to us now?
I hoped to be innovative by getting into the more artistic side of this topic. When I see this topic researched, I usually see the scientific or sociological approach, but I believe these artifacts to be pieces of art and want them to be treated as such.
